Who We Are

The Regenerative Conservation Initiative is a Uganda-based non-profit dedicated to transforming agriculture and conservation through regenerative practices that restore the Earth’s natural balance. We envision a future where healthy ecosystems, resilient communities, and sustainable livelihoods thrive together.
Our mission is to promote the widespread adoption of regenerative agriculture as a vital solution to reverse the damaging impacts of conventional farming. By naturally sequestering carbon, restoring ecosystems, reviving the water cycle, and enhancing biodiversity, regenerative agriculture turns farms into powerful tools against climate change.
We work closely with local communities to build strong, healthy, and resilient livelihoods by creating sustainable economic opportunities, improving food and water security, and increasing access to education and healthcare. Our approach integrates sustainable land management practices—such as restoring degraded rangelands, managing grazing, reducing deforestation, and carefully integrating livestock with wildlife—to regenerate landscapes and protect vital ecosystems.

Through our projects, we strive to reduce human-wildlife conflict, re-establish wildlife migration corridors, ensuring the preservation of biodiversity and the long-term health of our environment.

Marcus

Works with an NGO connected to the Danish Church, which focuses on helping people struggling with homelessness and addiction among other things.

Through my interactions with Emmanuel Ahumuza, I was convinced to join Regenerative Conservation Initiative Organization. Having experienced the beauty both of Ugandan nature but perhaps even more of the Ugandan people, the preservation of biodiversity in conjunction with the empowering of locals seemed central to me. Conservation and regenerative initiatives are important but such initiatives ought to also bring benefit to local communities. What I find inspiring about Uganda is how natural, cultural, and social sustainability are not seen as separate but are interconnected. I find that the thoughts behind RCI reflect these values.
